Post-process & editing software
Which platform should I be using? Great question! Here’s a basic rule of thumb when it comes to post-processing & editing images and artwork:
- Photoshop is used by photographers, graphic designers, web designers, publishers, artists etc.
- Lightroom is primarily used by photographers and many of the Photoshop features specific to photographers are found in Lightroom.
General rule of thumb: if you’re starting out in photography and want to edit your images, Lightroom is a great platform to hone your image editing skills. If you’re wanting to manipulate an image (remove objects/whiten teeth etc.) or create graphics, the tools packed into Photoshop will give you an endless array of options to achieve the results you’re looking for.
Synopsis: Use Lightroom for photo editing. Use Photoshop for image manipulation, graphic rendering. With either platform, the options available are infinite. And remember, have fun experimenting and creating your next masterpiece, whether it’s a photo or graphic rendition these are two awesome platforms available to you.
